Georgian Bay District Secondary School is excited to announce its upcoming virtual Grade Eight Information Nights, to present information for future Bears who will begin Grade Nine in September 2021.

Three distinct nights are planned with unique activities each evening.

Monday January 11 - High School 101 Information Session

Georgian Bay District Secondary School will launch a pre-recorded session of HIGH SCHOOL 101 at 7pm.  This pre-recorded information session will provide parents and students with information on:

  • Core Courses and Electives
  • Selecting Pathways
  • Pathway Destinations
  • Graduation Requirements
  • Specialized Programs
  • Sample Schedule

Tuesday January 12 – Inside the Bear Den

Students along with their parent/guardian(s) are encouraged to check out our Grade 8 Transition website.

Learn more about academic and extra-curricular activities offered at GBDSS.   This inside the Bear Den session will include:

  • Literature and videos from different departments on courses
  • Grade 9 work samples
  • Photo and video footage of the Bear Den
  • Introductions to student supports at GBDSS
  • Information on extra-curricular activities

After this session, if you are left with additional questions, we would encourage parent/guardians along with their student to sign up for a virtual Q and A timeslot for Wednesday January 13th (details below). Classroom teachers as well as teachers in support roles (Special Education Resource Teacher, Student Success, Indigenous Student Success, Guidance) will be available for individual meetings.   

Families not able to access zoom, are encouraged to call the school at 705-526-7817 to arrange a telephone meeting at a later date.  ​
